Incredible flying fish car for "Burning Man"

"Let's dream big", - we said when creating "Artrama". And one of the big dreams was to get to the craziest art festival in the world - Burning Man. But we did not think that it would happen so quickly!

“Do you do custom shapes? I have a shaded car we are putting together for Burning Man and need the wings of our flying fish made from lightweight shade cloth”, - it all started with such a request from an American Chris Shaffner who saw our canopies on the marketplace. He sent us a picture of the project and we immediately replied, "Yes! Wow!!! We're on it!".

The theme of the festival in 2023 was "Animalia", so the artists worked on various embodiments of abnormal animals - in costumes, sculptures, installations, and vehicles.

Andrew N-Zigo  undertook the development of the design. And after several weeks of work, discussions and agreements, we finally chose the perfect option. A whole roll of biflex and a lot of UV-active ink were used to make the "wings" and "body" of the fish. Our seamstress stitched over 176 meters of fabric and made 182 loops for fastening. A large package was sent to the USA and successfully arrived at West Palm Beach, Florida.

In August, Chris and Rimi Shaffner traveled from Florida to Black Rock City for the weeklong event. Our joint creation got into Burning Man! And although no one from "Artramа" managed to get to Nevada because of the war in Ukraine, we are happy that our art was at the festival.

“Go Fish aka Swim Shady” car attracted a lot of attention from participants and the media, and was even ranked among the Cutest and Wildest Art Cars by The San Francisco Standard. (Burning Man 2023: See the Cutest, Wildest Art Cars on the Playa (sfstandard.com).

The Burning Man 2024 theme - Curiouser & Curiouser - suits us perfectly. Therefore, "Artrama" is ready to implement new, even more incredible projects!
